SageSure is a managing general underwriter that's written property insurance in catastrophe-prone markets since 2006. IZC Insurance partners with SageSure to give homeowners in coastal and high-risk areas access to coverage that's harder to find through standard carriers, especially in states where hurricane, flood, and windstorm exposure limits which insurers will write new policies.
Here's what SageSure covers, where it operates, and what its financial rating means for you as a policyholder.
SageSure currently writes policies in 14 states, most of them coastal or otherwise exposed to elevated weather risk:
SageSure offers coverage across several policy forms, each built for a different type of property or situation:
SageSure does not currently offer auto insurance; homeowners looking to bundle auto coverage will need a separate carrier for that policy.
SageSure was founded in 2009 and issued its first policy that September, giving it well over a decade of experience underwriting property insurance specifically for coastal and catastrophe-exposed markets. That specialization, rather than being a generalist carrier, is a large part of why IZC recommends SageSure to homeowners in areas where broader insurers have pulled back.
SageSure itself is a managing general underwriter, not a licensed insurance carrier, so it doesn't carry its own AM Best financial strength rating. Instead, SageSure designs and manages policies on behalf of partner carriers that do hold their own ratings, typically ranging from A- (Excellent) to A+ (Superior). When you get a SageSure policy, your coverage is actually backed by one of these rated carrier partners, not SageSure directly.
If a specific AM Best rating matters to you, ask which carrier partner is backing your policy and check that carrier's current rating directly with AM Best, since it can vary by state and by policy.
IZC partners with SageSure because of its specialization in coastal risk, competitive rates in markets where options are limited, and straightforward claims process. For homeowners in high-risk zones, that combination often means access to coverage that would otherwise be hard to find.
